Context Menus

All the Music Library Manager's commands are available from the context menus, which are shown by right-clicking in the window, or by pressing the Windows' context menu key on the keyboard (two keys to the right of the space bar).

No screen space is wasted by fancy toolbar buttons which are rarely used.

The most common commands also have a shortcut key, for example F2 is for Filter by Properties and F4 removes the filter, see Shortcut Keys.

Track View context menu

Filter by Properties...

F2

Displays the Filter by Properties dialog box for choosing which tracks are shown in the Track view. A check mark is shown on the left of the menu item when a filter is active.

Filter by Text...

F3

Displays the Filter by Text dialog box, which can filter the Track view using a text in the the artist, album or track columns.

Unfiltered

F4

When a Filter by Properties or Filter by Text filter is active, this command turns off the filter so that all tracks are displayed again.

Play Selected Tracks

F9

Plays the selected tracks, existing tracks in the Music Player's cue list are replaced.

Add To Cue List

Ctrl+F9

Adds the selected tracks to Music Player's cue list, existing tracks remain the cue list.

Add To Playlist

Ins

Adds the highlighted tracks to the playlist at the current location.

Create Random Playlist

Ctrl+R

Selects 100 tracks (about 8 hours of music) at random from the tracks displayed in the Tracks view. Before using this command you can filter the view to show only the tracks with the genre, mood and/or ratings which you want, and then create a random playlist from these tracks.

Select All Tracks On Album

Ctrl+A

Selects all the tracks on the album which contains the track with the focus.

Show Album Art

 

Shows or hides the Album Art window.

Show Album View

F8

Opens the Album View. F8 can be used to toggle between the Tracks/Playlist and Album views.

Star Rating > 1..5

Ctrl+F1..
Ctrl+F5

Sets the star rating of the selected tracks.
Ctrl+F1 = 1 Star (Rubbish), Ctrl+F5 = 5 Stars (Brilliant)

Track Properties...

F5

Opens the Track Properties dialog box, so the rating, genre and/or mood of the selected tracks can be defined.

Audio Tools >

 

Opens a submenu to access additional applications, see below.

Library Management >

 

Opens a submenu to access the library management features, see below.

Help

F1

Displays this file.

Playlist View context menu

Play Playlist

F10

As a wild guess, I image that this command probably plays the playlist.

Play Selected Tracks

F9

Plays the selected tracks, existing tracks in the Music Player's cue list are replaced.

Add To Cue List

Ctrl+F9

Adds the selected tracks to Music Player's cue list, existing tracks remain in the cue list.

New Playlist

Ctrl+N

Creates a new empty playlist. You will be prompted to save the current playlist if it has been modified.

Open Playlist...

Ctrl+O

Opens and existing M3U playlist file.

Save Playlist

Ctrl+S

Saves the current playlist. This command is only available if the playlist file has been modified. If no playlist name has been assigned (it is still 'Untitled'), the 'Save Playlist' dialog box opens so you can choose a playlist name and folder.

Playlists are saved in the standard M3U format, which can be played by most media players, and can be re-loaded into the Music Library Manager's playlist window using 'Open Playlist'.

Save Playlist As...

 

Saves the open playlist into a different playlist file name. The 'Save Playlist' dialog box opens so you can choose a playlist name and folder.

Close Playlist

 

Closes the playlist.

Move Up

Ctrl+Up Arrow

Moves the selected track(s) up one place.

Move Down

Ctrl+Down Arrow

Moves the selected track(s) down one place.

Star Rating > 1 .. 5

Ctrl+F1..
Ctrl+F5

Sets the star rating of the selected tracks.
Ctrl+F1 = 1 Star (Rubbish), Ctrl+F5 = 5 Star (Brilliant).

Track Properties...

F5

Opens the Track Properties dialog box, so the rating, genre and/or mood of the selected tracks can be defined.

Remove Selected Tracks

Del

Removes the selected track(s) from the playlist.

Clear Playlist

Shift+Del

Removes all tracks from the playlist.

Randomize Order

Ctrl+R

Re-orders the playlist at random, so you don't have to listen to the same old rubbish in the same order every time. Makes life more interesting, if you can be bothered with it.

Export All Tracks...

 

Copies an optionally converts all tracks in the playlist to another drive, directory, mobile phone etc. It will also optionally convert uncompressed files to MP3. See Export Tracks.

Tip: You can use the Playlist to hold files you want to export.

Export Selected Tracks...

 

Same as above, but only for the selected tracks.

 

Library Management submenu

Edit Track Details...

F6

Opens the Edit Track dialog box, where you can modify the artist, album, track names, and other properties of the selected tracks. See also Rename Artist and/or Album.

Rename Artist/Album...

Ctrl+F6

Opens the Rename Artist and/or Album dialog, you can guess what this does.

Delete Selected Tracks...

 

Deletes the marked tracks from the library, and optionally moves the files to the Recycle Bin.

Choose Album Art...

F8

Opens the browser window which displays album art files. You can copy/paste an image into the Choose Album Art window.

Compute Beats-Per-Minute

Ctrl+B

Opens the Compute Beats-Per-Minute dialog box, which will find the BPM values for the selected tracks on Internet, or will calculate them.

Discogs Info

F11

Opens the Discogs website in your browser, to display everything you would ever need to know about the selected album.

Find Artist on Deezer

Ctrl+F11

Opens the Windows browser and does a search on Deezer for the artist of the selected track so you can listen to more tracks from this artist. You will need to create a Deezer account for yourself. The free version of Deezer is no longer available in Switzerland and certain other countries.

Find On YouTube Music

Alt+F11

Finds the album on YouTube Music. You will need a YouTube account to get high quality sound without Ads. It also finds nearest matches according to the artist, album or track name.
You can set the audio quality to High (256Kbps) by clicking on your user account icon (top right), and select Settings/Playback/Audio Quality=High. You must do this while a track is playing else it does not get set, and it takes effect when the next track plays.

Open Folder

F12

Opens the Windows' "File Explorer" to show the directory containing the selected track or album.
Note: Take care not to do anything in File Explorer that may cause conflicts with your database, such as renaming or moving music files etc. These things should always be done by the Music Library Manager so the database is also updated.

File Properties

Ctrl+Enter

Opens the Windows File Properties window. You can edit the music file's tags from here.

New Library...

Ctrl+N

Creates a new empty library. To add music files to the new library, use the Add Music Files or Import Music Files commands. You may also want to change the libraries's Music Files directory from the Options dialog box. The default library name is 'Untitled' so you will be asked to enter a library name when it is saved.

Open Library...

Ctrl+O

Opens an existing music library file. The file type is '.muman2'.

Save Library

Ctrl+S

Saves the music library to a '.muman2' file. This is only enabled if changes have been made.

Save Library As...

 

Saves the music library under another name.

Import Music Files...

Ctrl+I

Imports music files from another drive or directory, see Import Music Files.

Export Selected Tracks...

 

Exports and optionally converts the selected tracks to another drive or device, see Export Tracks.

Backup Music Files...

 

Updates an image of your music collection, copying only the missing or modified files. See Backup Music Files.

Export Library to CSV File...

 

Creates a file containing all the tracks in the library which can be opened by Excel, or imported into other applications. See Export to CSV File.

Add Music Files...

 

Scans the music files directory and adds new music files (tracks) to the library, see Add Music Files.

Validate Library...

 

Checks that all the music files exist, checks for empty directories, invalid path names etc. See Validate Library.

Import Properties...

 

If you have created a new library, you can import the properties from another library and assign them to the tracks in the open library, see Import Properties.

Options...

 

Opens the Options dialog box, where you can probably configure some options.

About...

 

If you really need help about the "About" dialog box, then you really need help. Contact your nearest GP immediately, before it gets any worse.
(Tip: This opens the 'About' dialog box, where you can see the software version, and marvel at the name of its illustrious creator.)

Winning Lottery Number...

 

Displays next week's winning lottery number. Not available in the "Lite" version. World Patents Pending (pending my release from prison after hacking the EuroMillions computer system).
