Music Files Directory

This defines the drive and directory which holds the music files. This can be on an internal hard drive, removable drive or mapped network drive. If it's on a removable drive, Music Library Manager will search for it, because removable drives can sometimes be assigned different drive letters. Press the '+' browse button to search for the directory yourself. The directory must exist, and the removable drive which contains it must be connected to the PC.

Music Player Path

This should normally be left blank to use Matt's Music Player. But if you must, you can use any music play that supports M3U playlist files, and drag-and-drop of music files into its window. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED because many music players also have music file management features which may conflict with Music Library Manager. Only do this if you know how the other music player works.

Restore Playlist at start-up

We hope the effect of this option is obvious, but we'll describe it anyway for those of you who have IQs in negative figures, or in case your mother-in-law is reading the help. This option restores the last saved version of the open playlist the next time you open Music Mangler. If you don't save the playlist, it will open the old version.

Show Album Art window

Uncheck this if you don't want the Album Art window to be displayed when the Music Library Manager opens.

Set music file associations for Matt's Music Player

When you open a music file from Windows, it opens the application which has been registered with Windows to open that file type. If this option is checked, then the Music Library Manager will register the supported music file types to be opened with Matt's Music Player instead of the default music player application. This is recommended, because other music players may mess with your music files.

When OK is pressed it will inform Windows that Matt's Music Player is able to open your music files. But it will not change your default music player application, it only affects the "Open With..." feature. To make Matt's Music Player your default music player, open 'Apps and Features' -> 'Default Apps', click on 'Music Player' and select 'Matt's Music Player' from the list (you may not see it there if you have not set the file associations as described previously).

Language

The MuMan Suite will soon be available in several languages. English, French, German, Italian and Russian are planned. All texts are in INI files which are loaded according to the selected language. We can even do "funny", "insulting" or "politically correct" (UK only) versions.

Background Colour

Tough one this, but we'll give it a try... It selects the background color for the Track and Playlist views. Choose something stylish (or disgusting) which matches your curtains or wallpaper. You can choose any one of about 256 million different colors, which may turn the task of finding exactly the right color into a nightmare. So I wouldn't bother with this feature if I were you, just stick with the default pinky color.

Large Font / Small Font

Selects the font for the Large Font or Small Font views. Press Ctrl+L to switch the font sizes. When using an HD TV to display MuMan, you can select the large font to make it easier to see. MuMan maintains a different set of column widths for the small and the large fonts, so you won't need to resize the columns when you change the font size. When using the large font you may want to hide certain columns.
